If the "About" page is the foundation of KT's A.R.C., then this blog is the living, breathing journal of the house.

Managing a multi-species household of over 60 residents is incredibly rewarding, but it is also completely unpredictable. One day is spent meticulously researching bioactive soil layers, and the next is spent trying to figure out how Apopse—our resident feline "agent of chaos" who possesses absolutely zero spatial awareness—managed to get herself into the loft again.

So, what exactly can you expect from the A.R.C. Journal? I've created this space to share the full reality of this lifestyle, broken down into a few main areas:

1. Resident Spotlights & Origin Stories

Every animal here has a story. You can expect deep dives into the individual personalities that make up the A.R.C. I’ll be sharing the origin stories of our rescues, like Draco the bearded dragon, celebrating "Gotcha Days" (a very special ball python anniversary is coming up soon!), and documenting the incredible growth of the tarantula slings as they finally show their adult colors.

2. High-Welfare Care Tips & Husbandry Guides

I am fiercely passionate about pushing the boundaries of captive animal care. I’ll be sharing the exact methods I use to help these animals thrive, rather than just survive. Expect posts covering:

Enclosure Builds: Step-by-step looks at creating bioactive terrariums and custom 3D-printed climbing structures.

Climate Control: How I use secondary Wi-Fi thermostats and live mobile alerts to ensure 24/7 safety for the reptiles.

Diet & Nutrition: The heavily monitored feeding schedules that keep everyone—from the insectivores to the felines—in peak condition.

3. The Funny, Messy Reality

Let’s be honest: keeping a house full of arachnids, reptiles, and two highly opinionated cats is not always picture-perfect. I’ll be sharing the funny stories, the epic messes, the feeding day fiascos, and the reality of trying to build a complex vivarium while Tilly, my spirit cat, insists on "helping" by sitting directly on the instructions.

Join the Journey

Whether you are a seasoned keeper looking for enclosure inspiration, someone trying to conquer their own fear of spiders, or you just want to see what the cats are knocking over today, I am so glad you are here.

I have a massive list of stories I want to share, but I’d love to hear from you first. What do you want to see next? A tour of a bioactive setup, or a spotlight on one of the rescues? Let me know!
